NorthStar is an exciting and challenging place to work. Our talented staff tackles architectural, engineering, environmental and surveying problems with enthusiasm. Mentoring is provided continuously to employees for all aspects of the projects that we work on.
Our office is located in Chico, at the north end of the central valley of California. The Chico community is rich in culture. We are surrounded by rice fields, fruit and nut orchards, and rolling foothills. Chico is very close to the Sacramento River, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and Lake Oroville so there are many opportunities for outdoor recreational activities.
The CSUC campus in town provides an excellent opportunity for continuing education and provides for a lively downtown atmosphere. The people in Chico are the greatest asset to the town. People here tend to be friendly, open minded, and well educated. There is definitely a strong sense of community among the residents. For full time employees, we have an insurance package with major medical, dental and vision, as well as life insurance and short-term / long-term disability, with the company footing the bill for a large percentage of the employee’s premium. We also have a cafeteria plan available at the employee’s option for unreimbursed medical expenses.
We offer a generous retirement package funded 100% by the employer and also a 401k plan. The company funds 100% of the cost of professional licensing fees and provides an allowance for the cost of memberships in professional organizations as well as professional training. Paid Time Off
We offer 8 paid holidays throughout the year, in addition to Paid Time Off (PTO) for eligible employees. PTO is based on seniority as follows:

Employees are allowed to carry over a portion of unused PTO to the next year.
The company will typically contribute an amount equal to 10-12 percent of the employee’s annual salary into a profit sharing plan. A full time employee will be fully vested in the plan after six years.
