Native Oaks and Oak Woodlands

As native oak woodlands continue to be removed from the Northstate landscape, they are gaining increasing protections in the Central Valley. Counties and municipalities of Northern California are requiring increasingly stringent mitigation measures for projects negatively impacting oak woodlands, and it pays to be prepared when oak woodlands and other native trees occur within your potential project areas. Proper planning and effective mitigation strategies can save you time.

Tree Inventories and Arborist Reports

  When woodlands do occur on a site, an inventory and arborist report are typically required by municipalities or lead agencies. We perform small‐ and large‐scale woodland inventories and incorporate site conditions to develop mitigation plans that conform to any municipality or county ordinance. We develop mitigation and replanting plans for post‐construction compliance, and additionally perform construction monitoring.

Oak Woodland Mitigation Planting and Restoration

Laws can require post‐construction mitigation planting to compensate for impacts to oak woodlands or trees affected by construction activities. NorthStar Environmental has experience developing mitigation strategies and performing on and offsite mitigation plantings to comply with regulatory demands. We perform small‐ or large‐scale planting and monitoring in the Central Valley in a variety of habitats including oak woodlands and riparian areas.
