Building Department Information
No matter what service we will be providing for your project, we recommend that you contact the building department for your jurisdiction as early as possible in the process and find out what they will be requiring you to provide them. Each jurisdiction can be very different and have different requirements that you will need to meet prior to obtaining your building permit. If you don’t jump through the hoops they have established, they have the authority to make your life miserable.
First of all, you will need to determine what jurisdiction your project will be constructed in based on the city and / or county where it’s located. You can visit BigDaddyData.com for assistance in determining either of these and also for finding the officially sanctioned website of your jurisdiction.


Select the state you live in on the first page you come to (on the Big Daddy Data website). This will take you to a page that allows you to select either the city or county you live in based on the first letter of the name.

After selecting the first letter of the city or county, you will be taken to a page that lists all of the cities or counties that begin with that letter. Selecting your city or county from the list will take you to another page that will have a link to the officially sanctioned website for that jurisdiction. If a website link is not listed, your jurisdiction may not have a website.
