What exactly is LEED certification? LEED is a green building rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a “voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings”. According to the USGBC, LEED was created to:

• define "green building" by establishing a common standard of measurement
• promote integrated, whole-building design practices
• recognize environmental leadership in the building industry
• stimulate green competition
• raise consumer awareness of green building benefits
• transform the building market 

We have a LEED Accredited Professional® (LEED AP) available to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the certification process. Utilizing a LEED AP for your project awards it one point towards certification. The U.S. Green Building Council has the following to say regarding LEED AP’s:

LEED Accredited Professionals are experienced building industry practitioners who have demonstrated their knowledge of integrated design and their capacity to facilitate the LEED certification process on the LEED Professional Accreditation exam. The exam tests an individual’s understanding of green building practices and principles, and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes. The accreditation program recognizes expertise in green building and LEED to help meet the growing demand from the public and private sectors for green buildings.
