California State University, Chico - Student Services Center Plaza

NorthStar Engineering was retained by California State University, Chico (CSU) to prepare the base mapping to support a design-build construction of a new plaza between the Student Services Building and Meriam Library located on the CSU campus at the intersection of West First Street and Ivy Street. The project consisted of two topographic survey areas. The first being a design level topographic survey of the 2.5 acre plaza area, and the second being a basic topographic survey depicting planimetric features for the 9.8 acre area surrounding the plaza. Control was established on the site using a Global Positioning System (GPS) to establish California State Plane Zone 2 NAD83 coordinates.  Differential leveling was preformed to establish a City of Chico elevation on site. The survey also included extensive utility research on campus, along with working with the Facilities Management Department to map out the existing utilities on site.
