Stock Plans
Stock building plans can be found in magazines and on the web. They are drawn by both architects and building designers, and can be found in a variety of sizes and styles. The advantage of a stock plan is that if you find a plan that exactly suites your requirements, then you will save the cost of hiring someone to design your home. However, if you want modifications to the plans, or if you need engineering (which is required by many jurisdictions), you will need to hire a design professional. Also, most stock plans are not complete enough to submit to the building department, and may not be done to the current building codes where you plan to build. Quite often it is more cost effective to have your design and engineering done by NorthStar Engineering right from the start. If you have purchased a stock building plan that you would like to modify, or that needs to be engineered, please contact us and we would be happy to give you a quote for those services. Keep in mind we can only modify, reproduce or engineer stock plans that you have already purchased.
