American Congress on Surveying and Mapping
Originally named the National Congress on Surveying and Mapping when it was
founded in June 1941, the society sought to better coordinate the nation's
surveying and mapping activities. Later the name was changed to the American
Congress on Surveying and Mapping to encompass members from Canada and
South America. Today, although the majority continue to come from the United
States, the members of ACSM’s Member Organizations include more than
7,000 surveyors, cartographers, geodesists, and other spatial data information
professionals working in both public and private sectors throughout the world.
American
Society of Civil Engineers
Founded in 1852, ASCE represents more than 130,000 civil engineers
worldwide and is America's oldest national engineering society.
ASCE
celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2002.
California Building Officials
A nonprofit organization founded in 1962, dedicated to promoting
public health
and safety in building construction through responsible legislation,
education and
building code development.
California Land Surveyors Association
The goal of the California Land Surveyors Association is to promote and
enhance the profession of surveying, to promote the common good and welfare
of its members, to promote and maintain the highest possible standards of
professional ethics and practice, and to elevate the public's understanding of our
profession. CLSA represents all land surveyors, whether they are employees or
proprietors, whether in the public or private sector.
California Onsite Wastewater Association
COWA is an association organized to promote environmentally and
economically sound onsite wastewater technology and management practices.
International Code
Council
The International Code Council (ICC) was established in 1994
as a nonprofit
organization dedicated to developing a single set of comprehensive
and
coordinated national model construction codes. The founders
of the ICC are
Building Officials and Code Administrators International,
Inc. (BOCA),
International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), and
Southern Building
Code Congress International, Inc. (SBCCI).
Junior Engineering Technical
Society
JETS is a national non-profit education organization that
has served the pre-
college engineering community for over 50 years. JETS promotes
interest in
engineering, science, mathematics, and technology, and is
dedicated to
providing real-world engineering
and problem-solving experience to high school
students.
National Academy of Engineering
The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) mission is to promote
the
technological welfare of the nation by marshaling the knowledge
and insights of
eminent members of the engineering profession.
National
Association of Home Builders
Founded in 1942, NAHB is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association
whose mission is to enhance the climate for housing and the
building industry.
Chief among NAHB's goals is providing and expanding opportunities
for all
consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing.
National Society of Professional Engineers
The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) is the only engineering
society that represents individual engineering professionals and licensed
engineers (PEs) across all disciplines. Founded in 1934, NSPE strengthens the
engineering profession by promoting engineering licensure and ethics, enhancing
the engineer image, advocating and protecting PE's legal rights at the national
and state levels, publishing news of the profession, providing continuing
education opportunities, and much more.
Society of Women Engineers
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit
educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes
engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers
women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their
life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.
