Registered Structural Engineer

A registered structural engineer (RSE) must first become a registered civil engineer (RCE), and then obtain an additional 3 years of experience in structural engineering to be eligible to sit for the examination.

The examination consists of an 8 hour national structural engineering examination (SE II) and an 8 hour California Structural Engineering Seismic examination (CSE2). By California state law, a RSE may design and engineer any structure of any type.
