Wetland Delineation

Preliminary Wetland Assessment

Preliminary Wetland Assessments (PWA) are often performed to generate a working baseline for a property prior to project development. This type of assessment allows for NorthStar Environmental to assist our clients in pre‐project planning to determine feasibility and identify suitable project areas within a property. On small properties this step is often helpful in determining the extent, if any, of jurisdictional wetlands and other waters of the U.S. located on‐site; on large properties performing this step is often cost effective and time‐efficient, because it allows our Clients to focus their resources on viable project areas. Maps generated from a PWA are used by project engineers early in the design phase in order to better avoid jurisdictional features, thereby reducing permitting and mitigation costs.

Wetland Delineation

NorthStar Environmental routinely conducts formal wetland delineations. All wetlands and other waters that meet the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers criteria are delineated on‐site.  NorthStar Environmental staff map all water resources according to USACE 2001 minimum mapping standards and prepare delineation reports per the 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual, the 2006 Arid West Region Supplement, and the 2007 Jurisdictional Determination Form Instructional Guidebook.
